TOCCOA, Ga. (AP) - Officials from the Georgia Army National Guard say a group of troops is scheduled to return from Afghanistan just in time for Christmas.

Maj. Will Cox said in a statement that a welcome home ceremony is set for Tuesday evening at Stephens County High School for members of the Georgia Army National Guard who are based in Toccoa and Ft. Benning.

Cox says the unit helped conduct demolition, repair and construction operations for facilities in their designated areas. Cox says this Christmas marks the first time in 13 years that no units from the Georgia Army National Guard will be deployed.

The ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m.
