TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department says several roads in Tallahassee will be closed for two runs being held in the Capital City over the weekend.
The department says these closures may affect travelers driving through the area.
From the Tallahassee Police Department:
The Break-A-Leg 5K will be held Saturday morning, 2/6/16, from 8:00AM – 10:00AM.
-- Meridian Road between E. Bradford Road and Lake Ella Drive will be closed for runners.
-- Glenview Drive between Meridian Road and Thomasville Road will be closed for runners.
The Tallahassee Marathon will be held Sunday, 2/7/16, from 7:00AM – 2:30PM.
-- The Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County Sheriff's Office, Florida State University Police Department, and the Florida Highway Patrol will be staffing traffic control points throughout the City.
-- Monroe Street will be closed from Apalachee Parkway to Tennessee Street from 7:00AM – 7:45AM.
-- Thomasville Road will be closed from Glenview Drive to Monroe Street from 7:30AM – 8:30AM.
-- Lafayette Street will be closed from Myers Park Drive to Suwannee Street from 8:15AM – 11:45 AM.
-- Duval Street will be closed from Pensacola Street to College Avenue from 7:00AM – 3:00PM.
-- Segments of North Monroe Street, East Tennessee Street, Mahan Drive, Capital Circle North East, East Park Avenue, Magnolia Drive, West Madison Street, and South Duval Street will have one lane closed to traffic for use by approximately 1300 runners.
-- Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
