TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - This weekend, a group from Tallahassee will raise awareness about mental health through a special bike ride across the Panhandle.
It's being called the "Unconquered Ride" and the FSU Police Department is supporting the journey.
The month of May is both National Bicycle Month and National Mental Health Awareness Month.
"I consider every day that I am here and every day that I function well as a day that I'm not conquered," said Major James Russell, with the Florida State University Police Department. "I am unconquered, and I want other people to have that feeling as well, that they can be unconquered. So, that ride has a very deep meaning for me, and hopefully, it's inspiring to others."
Five men and women will represent the Capital City Saturday, most of whom have been in law enforcement.
