CROSSVILLE, Tenn (CNN) -- A couple in Tennessee allegedly came up with a creative way to distract a man, all so they could steal from him.
The victim says he was tricked by his own neighbors.
The wife took off her clothes and took a dip in his pool while her husband was taking valuables from inside the man's home.
"I went and got her a towel, she dried off and all of a sudden she's soaking wet again and I escorted her outside and I invited her to church," the homeowner said. "And she said she didn't have time for that."
The man thought the woman's husband had gone back to their house to get cigarettes. He now believes he was tricked. When the 30-something-year old woman left, the 54-year-old victim says he noticed jewelry, medication and the service weapon he used when he was a Mississippi deputy were all missing.
"It's aggravating," the man said. " You want to help people out from time to time regardless of their situation that they're in and then when you turn around and open up your hospitality and then you are taken for granted and actually burglarized. You want to close the door on other people from then on."
Investigators have identified the suspects but they have not yet been found. The victim says he'd recently given the neighbors some old appliances to sell, but they didn't know each other well. He also said he wants the stolen items returned because he was planning on passing them down to his grandchildren.
