WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office fired a correctional officer who was on duty when three inmates escaped last month.
Reports say that on December 8 Sheriff Jared F. Miller terminated the employment of Correctional Officer Ondenia Hildelburg for failure to meet performance expectations.
Officials say Hildelburg was a probationary "at will" employee.
The criminal investigation and the internal affairs investigation remain on-going.
Details are limited right now about her role in last month's escape when Casey Martina, Joel Cooper and Donald Cotterman got out through the law library ceiling.
Martina was captured and arrested in Rockwell, North Carolina, while Cooper and Cotterman are still on the run.
Investigators say they were last seen on surveillance video stealing an ATM in Rowan County, North Carolina.
They are considered armed and dangerous.
