TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff’s Office says one of their detectives responded to an unusual call about a 9-foot anaconda Thursday.

LCSO shared the video to their Facebook page Thursday.

LCSO says detective Emily Shaw has experience handling exotic snakes and was equipped to handle the 9-foot yellow anaconda safely.

They said the snake was found on the east side of Leon County near Louvinia Drive. They believe that it was someone's pet that was either released or escaped.

"If you own an exotic pet, please be responsible," deputies wrote. "Make sure their cages are completely secure and if you decide you no longer want it, DO NOT release it into the wild. Instead, contact Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission."
