VALDOSTA, GA. (WTXL) - Due to the recent bad weather, Valdosta has seen over five inches of rain. As a result, some parts of the waste water collection system has been filled to capacity.

The Utilities Department staff has discovered waste water escaping from a cracked pipe near the 1400 block of Gornto Road.

The spill has since stopped, but city officials say, about 36,000 gallons of storm and waste water has been discharged to Sugar Creek, north of Gornto Road.

Regulatory agencies and the local Health Department have been notified. Sampling will be conducted to collect and document bacteria levels in the waterway.
