TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man wanted in Leon County has been arrested after leading police on a chase that resulted in the hospitalization of two pedestrians and another driver.
The Tallahassee Police Department says that Kenneth D. Chambers was arrested and charged for the crash that injured four as well as for the possession of drugs.
They said that on Wednesday night, an officer tried to make a traffic stop on Chamber's car but he sped off, hitting another car and causing it to hit three pedestrians waiting at the red light at the intersection of Virginia and Bronough streets.
Officers say that Chambers then got out the now disabled car and tried to run away, but thanks to a Good Samaritan who "took pursuit", TPD was able to arrest him.
When searched, police found a bag with a white powdery substance in it that came back negative for cocaine. They also found another bag on him with a hard, opaque substance that had brownish-yellow tint to it.
TPD also discovered that Chambers had 5 warrants out for his arrest in Leon County.
Two of the pedestrians that were hit were taken to a local hospital, one of which was in serious condition, while the third walked away without speaking to officers.
Chambers is facing the following charges:
o Possession of Cocaine
o Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription
o Resist an Officer Without Violence
o False Information Given to LEO
o Driving While License Suspended or Revoked-3rd or subsequent offense
o 3 counts - Hit and Run-Fail to Stop at Crash with Injuries
