TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - Just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, Sylvester Police clocked a speeding car heading east on Franklin Street and pulled the driver over.
When the officer approached the black Toyota Camry, the car sped away.
Sylvester Police followed him and radioed to other law enforcement that the driver was driving toward Tifton.
Police learned that the driver of the car was wanted by Orlando, Florida authorities for Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Authorities say that the driver was headed down Union Road in Tift County about 1:30 a.m., when he ran off the road, over-corrected, went into a ditch, hit the embankment, went airborne, and hit a utility pole.
Deputy Tift Co. Coroner Melissa Carroll confirmed that he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has not yet been identified by the Georgia State Patrol, which worked the crash.
