TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, every year, suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined. On Saturday morning, residents have an opportunity to reduce that number.

The Out of the Darkness Walk takes place across the country, providing suicide prevention awareness, as well as education and support for those who have lost a loved one because of suicide. The money raised goes towards the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The Secular Student Alliance at Florida State University, along with the Center for Inquiry - Tallahassee, are organizing the walk. Registration begins 8:30 A.M. Saturday at Tom Brown Park, with the walk starting at 9:30.

If you can't make it to the walk, you can still donate to the cause locally until December 31st.
