WAKULLA County Fla.-- A tropical storm canceled tonight's Commission Meeting in Wakulla County, where county leaders were expected to discuss issues with the 911 system.
They say events like the tropical storm, highlight why it's so important for the county to take action on the ailing dispatch system.
The county agenda says the system has six 911 consoles, but only two are working.
The county says another system failure would leave dispatch without the ability to communicate with fire, EMS, or law enforcement.
The county agenda estimates it would cost $322,000 dollars to purchase a new dispatch system.
The funds would come from the one-cent public facilities reserve.
