WAKULLA Co., FL (WTXL) - The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office is setting up three locations where the public can drop off unwanted medications.

The locations are being set up as a part of the National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, September 26.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., citizens can hand over unwanted or outdated medications to deputies. Those medications will be given to the DEA who will make sure they are disposed of properly.

According to the DEA's website, flushing drugs down the toilet or throwing them away can create safety and health hazards.

The three pick-up locations are below:

1) Big Top Grocery, 1353 Coastal Highway in Panacea

2) Kangaroo Express #3908, 979 Woodville Highway in Wakulla Station

3) The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office, 15 Oak Street in Crawfordville

If you are looking to drop off medications at the third location, deputies say, "The WCSO location may end up being the water tower on Oak Street in an effort to be more convenient for motorists on Wakulla Arran Road. Keep an eye out near the water tower for a uniformed deputy."
