WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Several Wakulla County deputies were honored on Tuesday for their lifesaving actions during Hurricane Michael. 

Deputy Evelyn Brown, Deputy Mitch Revels, Deputy Kenneth Malphurs, Sgt. Joe Page. Lt. Matt Helms, Lt Jeremy Johnston, Major Ray Johnson and Mike Kemp were recognized for their actions. 

Those deputies responded to a call for help from residents in the Spring Creek area who were stuck in their homes due to fast rising water. 

Wakulla County Sheriff Jared Miller stated that the deputies quick actions during Hurricane Michael to rescue those residents were directly responsible for saving the citizens life during the powerful storm.
