WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Wakulla County is set to reel in over $6 million in the state budget for county projects.

County officials say over the last five years commissioners have pushed for legislative funds to make sure tax dollars paid by citizens and visitors come back to the area.

This session the board of county commissioners were focused on projects that support the county's local law enforcement and first responders.

One of the main topics was the request for a new fire and EMS station on Trice Lane.

The number one priority is a request for a new radio system for area law enforcement. They say the current system is in need of a major upgrade.

Other important legislative funding pursued by the county was for several local road projects. All projects in the legislative budget are subject to approval of the governor.
