WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say 4 students and a bus driver are in the hospital after the school bus traveled off the road and into a tree this morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that the Wakulla County School bus, driven by 65-year-old Terry Laird, was traveling south on Woodville Highway, when it passed the intersection of Woodville and Bloxham Cutoff Road.
At the same time, troopers say that the bus left the road and began traveling into the west shoulder of the road.
Eventually, the front of the bus ended up hitting a nearby tree.
Laird and four other students were taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
All the students who were uninjured were either picked up by their parents or taken to school on another bus.
FHP says that the driver is being charged with failure to maintain lane of travel.
