WAKULLA COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - The County Board of Commissioners in Wakulla has just passed their 2016-2017 budget.
Wakulla County is four years into their five year plan to establish financial stability and after a total of 5 budget workshops, they have agreed to continue service and operations at all county offices.
Funding has also been approved for construction on the Otter Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility that will more than double its current processing capability. They also approved repairs to the county jail and the purchase of additional cars for the Sheriff's Department.
Lastly, the board set aside funds for a sewer and road paving project in Wakulla and Magnolia gardens.
"Five years ago the County was in a very serious financial condition; staff developed a 5-year plan to get the County back on its feet financially and move the County forward. Four years into the plan we have achieved the goal of making the County financially sound. The Board of County Commissioners were committed to the 5-year plan and I applaud them for this," said County Administrator David Edwards.
