VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Valdosta State University (VSU) has once again joined the list of Military Friendly Schools by G.I. Jobs magazine. This is VSU's fifth time receiving this honor.

According to a VSU spokesperson, the list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools for their efforts in helping military members, former and current, pursue a college degree.

“VSU continues to build strong partnerships with military bases across Georgia, as we offer degree options that meet the needs of working military service personnel and veterans transitioning into a new career field,” said VSU President William J. McKinney.

In 2010, VSU established the Office of Adult and Military Programs (AMP), which helps military members transition from military to college life, in addition to giving them the tools and resources needed to earn a college degree.

“There are a number of ways we assist active duty personnel and veterans with degree completion,” said Dr. Jerry Merwin, director of AMP. “One of the main things is making them aware of a range of options in majors that will match their background and career plans.”
