VALDOSTA, GA. (WTXL) - Valdosta State University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences is making a commitment to enlisted men and women. VSU is reserving 10 percent of the School of Nursing's enrollment for active-duty military personnel who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

The initiative will begin with the upcoming fall. Those who qualify from the United States Air Force, Army, Marines, or Navy are encouraged to apply before Jan. 15, 2015.

According to Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Mark A. Smith, there has been a shortage of those interested in nursing across the services.

VSU was named by GI Jobs magazine a 2015 Military Friendly School. An honor its received for five consecutive years.

Only 50 students are admitted each fall into VSU's School of Nursing.
