VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - On February 5, 2014 around 12:37 PM the Valdosta Police Department (VPD) responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of N. Patterson Street and E. College Street involving a driver striking a pedestrian.
According to the officers on scene, a 21-year old white female was crossing in the crosswalk with the proper pedestrian light, and was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado, which was turning south on North Patterson Street. Officers say Michael Laslie, 21 of Valdosta was driving the Silverado.
Laslie is being charged with Failure to Yield to Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.
Lt. Aaron Kirk, spokesperson for VPD says the victim was taken to the South Georgia Medical Center ER and is believed to have multiple broken bones and possible head trauma. VPD is not releasing the name of the victim yet as they continue trying to contact her family.
