DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say an inmate at the Volusia County Jail has died from an apparent suicide.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that 29-year-old Vincent Tarvin was found hanging from his bunk by a tied sheet Monday night.
Corrections staffers were able to resuscitate him and he was taken to a hospital in Daytona Beach.
But he remained unconscious and died Wednesday night.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says a preliminary investigation hasn't shown anything suspicious and that the death appears to be a suicide.
Court records show he was arrested for possession of cannabis.
