TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - There are more than 25,000 children in the Big Bend who do not know where their next meal will come from.
And more than half of the children in Leon County, according to America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend, are hungry in the summer months, because they rely on free and reduced lunches at school for their nutritional needs.
Which is why the community in Tallahassee is banning together to change all that.
Volunteers collected donations of cash and food on Wednesday.
