TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Nearly 300 volunteers will be gathering at Rickards High School tomorrow to assemble 60,000 meals for families in the Big Bend.
With school out, children who depend on free and reduced price school lunches may not be able to get the food they need.
More than 29,000 children in the Big Bend live in poverty.
A Full Summer is a non-profit organization is trying to raise $15,000 this year to hand out the meals to those in need.
Any money raised above $15,000 will be donated to Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
The meals assembled tomorrow will be moved to Second Harvest's warehouse and throughout the summer they will take those meals to low income summer programs for kids.

WHEN: This Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

- Teams from: Boys Town of North Florida, Rickards High School, Camp Shalom, St. John's Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church of Tallahassee, Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church, Tallahassee Community College, several law firms, Advent Episcopal Church, Good Shepherd, and more
- Rickards High School students have embraced A FULL SUMMER with 80 volunteers. They have organized a team of 12 seniors who will be assembling meals, the JROTC is directing traffic, and the football and basketball teams are setting up for the event the afternoon before.
