TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Department of Corrections has canceled weekend visitation at two prisons, including one where a major disturbance prompted a lock-down earlier this week.

The department announced in a news release Friday that it was canceling visitation at Holmes Correctional Institution and Gulf Correctional Institution Annex. Officials say a prisoner injured another inmate during the incident that involved hundreds of Holmes inmates Wednesday night, but no staff was hurt.

News reports have said prisoners across the country were planning protests Friday to mark the 45th anniversary of the Attica prison riot. Eleven staff members and 32 inmates were killed during the five-day riot at the New York prison.
