TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Visit Florida initiative is touting new data showing a boost in Florida tourism
The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association has released new data supporting Visit Florida's efforts, showing a significant return on investment for tourism campaigns.
Florida's hotel industry has enjoyed a Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) rate of $79.34, well above the national average of $68.69. Florida's growth rate was 8.3 percent, versus 5.4 for the national average.
Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association President and CEO Carol Dover called for more funding for the initiative. “Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Legislature understand the critical need to fund VISIT FLORIDA’s tourism marketing programs to keep our state as one of the top tourist destinations in the country,” said Dover.
