TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It's not everyday that a political candidate admits that he has a small chance of winning the election.
Vietnam veteran, Joe West, filed to run for Mayor of Tallahassee early this afternoon.
He says the lack of ethics in city hall is concerning to him and he wants to see change.
When the current city commission decided to not pass a referendum for an independent ethics board, West was moved to action and made the decision to run for office.
He openly disagrees with the paid leave of City Manager, Rick Fernandez, during the ongoing investigation into corruption.
West believes there needs to be change in direction of city hall that can't come unless there is a change at the top.
Some of the things West would push for as mayor are getting term limits for elected officials and the return of the rotating mayor position.
He feels, as mayor, he can facilitate the change he wants to see.
