JACKSONVILLE, FL (CNN) - A thief was working the beach and was caught on camera in Jacksonville.
Thieves targeting bags left unattended make it difficult for beachgoers to relax and enjoy the water.
In this video, you can see a woman walking toward Alexis Keller’s brother's backpack and the woman snatches the bag up and keeps walking. Keller said the incident happened Sunday when her brother wanted to go surfing.
"He was looking at the surf cams the next day and come to find out they got video of it."
Keller said the very next day, her brother and his friend went out to Jacksonville Beach again.
"The girl literally walked in front and acted normal like she was looking at the waves turned around grabbed the back pack and walked out of frame," said Keller.
Keller said there was only some clothes in her brother’s backpack, but there was a cell phone and keys in his friend's backpack.
She says she shared the videos on Facebook to bring awareness to this crime at the beach.
Sergeant Thomas Crumley said this is something they see more often as more people come to the area to enjoy the weather.
"Those things do happen more often because people wait around and look for people who have left items unattended," Sgt. Crumley said.
Jacksonville Beach Police said they've had five reports of stolen items from the beach area in the last two weeks.
