SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A construction project has caused some trouble this morning on Coon Key Bridge, backing up the westbound lanes of the John Ringling Bridge in Sarasota.
Sarasota police posted a traffic alert in the early morning on August 3 reporting how a semi truck got stuck on the small bridge off the west end of the John Ringling Bridge. A section of the bridge was under construction at the time with a sign indicating the 10-foot lane ahead. It would appear the truck had been wider than 10-feet.
Video shows the tires of the truck wedged between a temporary median on the left of the bridge and a center median on the right.
Traffic was stopped while authorities attempted to "free" the truck. At around 9 a.m., Sarasota police reported all westbound lanes on the John Ringling Causeway had reopened.
