GULF SHORES, AL (ABC NEWSONE) - Beachgoers experienced a close encounter with a shark that came very close to shore on Friday.
A witness, Kayla Blanks, captured the event on her phone. She wrote:
"HOLY COW!!!!! PLEASE WATCH YOUR SURROUNDINGS!!! I am shaking this just happened!!!! SHARK!!!!!!! GULF SHORES!"
"Yes I took this video, yes it was right in front of me, and yes he came within inches of someone! (And everyone is yelling shark, and they did not speak English)."
She said a volunteer firefighter from the Montevallo Fire Department jumped in and helped get people's attention in the water that didn't know what was going on.
