CRAWFORDVILLE, FL (WTXL) -- Charges have been filed against a 19-year-old after two people were injured in a stabbing and a shooting.
Chantz Heath Carraway has been charged with one count of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated battery in connection with the shooting on Carraway Cutoff Wednesday afternoon.
Shawn “Poody” Mark Speiler, 39, and Brittany Louvon Harris, 23, were both injured.
According to deputies, all three were at a home on 186 Carraway Cutoff when the gathering escalated over an alleged theft, said the sheriff's office. Investigators said that Carraway stabbed Speiler in the neck and as the two victims attempted to leave in a vehicle, Carraway fired a rifle and both victims were hit by shrapnel. Harris was also struck by the butt of the rifle and at least one additional shot was fired in the yard as the male victim fled to seek help, said deputies.
As of Friday morning, both victims are still in the hospital, said deputies. Carraway is being held at the Wakulla County Jail pending his first court appearance.
