TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The ninth annual Veterans' Memorial Poker Run will put the cards in your hands -- literally -- when it comes to helping local veteran services.
A poker run is an organized event where participants, usually using motorcycles, must visit checkpoints along a designed route. At each stop, they draw a playing cart. The winner will have the best poker hand at the end of the run.
The Veterans' Memorial Poker Run will take place, rain or shine, on Saturday, May 18. The event starts 9 a.m. at Gulf 104, which is located on 2411 West Tharpe Street.
The cost is $10 per hand, and the proceeds this year will go towards two local Veterans' charities -- Honor Flight, which flies veterans to Washington, D.C. to see national veteran memorials, and a Wakulla-based group of Charter Captains that take veterans out for a day of deep sea fishing.
The entire event is hosted by the Vietnam Vets Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club. For more information, view the attached flyer or visit www.veteventstally.org.
