TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A group of veterans are coming together Friday and Saturday to uplift and help their fellow veterans.

This helping hand is extended to homeless and at risk vets right in our backyard.

They're returning with the sixth annual North Florida Stand Down for Homeless and At-Risk Vets.

A stand down is a military term, used when a soldier is out of food, ammo, and needs help.

In Tallahassee, veterans are extending that helping hand outside of the battle field. Friday's stand down will provide assistance ranging from legal aid, to grooming, to free toiletries, and even help finding housing.

For veterans with no way of getting to the Stand Down, Star Metro is offering free bus fare Friday and Saturday. All you have to do is show your military ID.
