TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Veteran Success Center at Tallahassee Community College has a new name.

It will now be called the Richard W. and Karen B. Moore Veteran Success Center, in honor of trustee Karen B. Moore and her husband, who made a donation to launch the Tallahassee Community College Moore Veterans Leadership Academy.

The academy will focus on education, government, civic engagement, and many other areas along with mentorship.

Each student who completes the academy will receive a scholarship.

TCC says this is just one more step in their efforts to support veterans.

"What a veteran brings to our college in addition to their experience is maturity and leadership," said TCC President Jim Murdaugh. "You know there is a great deal that they learn when they're in the military that they can bring to our campus and share with other students and share with faculty and so this leadership institute, is an effort to recognize what they're bringing to our college and the contributions they can make," Murdaugh added.

The academy program will last for two semesters.

It's scheduled to begin in the fall of 2016.
