TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A new report says vaping numbers are up among American teens.
This comes as the use of other substances, such as alcohol and opioids, has declined in recent years.
The report found nearly 18 percent of 8th graders, more than 32 percent of 10th graders and more than 37 percent of 12th graders reported vaping in the past year.
Those percentages are up from the year before.
A spokesman for the National Institute on Drug Abuse says this means teens don't see vaping as dangerous.
And family therapist Jane Marks said she's seeing a decline in other drugs.
Marks said if you're asking your child about vape use, don't ask if they've done it. Instead, ask when was the last time.
This gets your child to think about how much they're using it and as always, make sure you're communicating with them.
