VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A Valdosta teen faces aggravated assault charges in the shooting of another teen wounded in his torso.
A mother told officers that her 15-year-old son came home on Sept. 13, about 1 a.m. after having been shot, according to a Valdosta Police Department news release.
The wounded teen told officers he and friends were out riding around neighborhoods when an unknown person began shooting at them in the 2200 block of Deborah Drive.
Detectives found and arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with the case and turned the case over to the Department of Juvenile Justice, which turned the teen over to the Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
A police spokesman said the case is another example of juveniles wandering the streets during the middle of the night and getting involved in serious crimes.
"... A mother nearly lost her juvenile son, who was the victim in this crime, and another mother now has her juvenile son facing aggravated assault charges," said Lt. Adam Bembry.
