VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Over 500 student volunteers helped nearly 2,000 students move into their doom rooms at Valdosta State University on Thursday.
Students and parents began unloading their cars as early as 8:00 a.m. Thursday.
Student Body President Jacob Bell also volunteered to be part of the moving crew.
He says Thursday was an emotional day for everyone.
"Our students are excited, our parents aren't quite as excited," said Bell. "So, we try to ensure that we make them feel comfortable, that we make them feel welcome, and that we make sure they feel like they're a part of our family from day one."
This is the second year that VSU has moved all students in on the same day.
Classes begin Monday, August 13.
