VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - On Saturday, the Valdosta State football team opened up the 2018 season with a big win over Albany State.

Leading the way for the Blazers wasn't anyone in uniform, instead, it was four year old Levi Dykes, who the team adopted last month through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.

Levi's little sister Annabelle was diagnosed with Leukemia and she also has down syndrome, and the foundation looked to partner Levi with a team to help him feel special and supported as the Dykes family focuses on Annabelle's treatment.

The Blazers were the obvious choice, as Levi loves football. On Saturday, Levi helped lead the team out on the field and celebrated with them after their win. For more on Levi and his adoption by the Blazer football team, click here.
