REMERTON, GA (WALB) - Police are now looking for a man who was believed to have barricaded himself inside an apartment with a gun, threatening to shoot himself, for nearly three hours.

That man has been identified as Glenn Davis, by Remerton Investigator Derrick Sinclair.

According to Sinclair, the incident initially started as a domestic dispute between Davis and his wife.

Sinclair says the wife initially made the call saying that she and Davis had a argument, when he pulled out a silver 9 millimeter hand gun and threaten to shoot himself.

Police arrived around 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Sinclair says the Lowndes County Swat Team shot smoke grenades inside the apartment and then entered the home, finding no-one inside.

One resident saw the situation unfold.

"It's quite a turn of events, I wasn't expecting that, whenever they fired off the smoke grenades is when I expected them to just recover him and end the situation," said resident Austin Youmans. "But now that it's ongoing it's kind of wary."

Remerton Police are actively searching for Davis and warn people not to engage with him if they come into contact.

REMERTON, GA (WALB) - A man has barricaded himself inside a Remerton apartment on Victory Drive near Pine Street, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk.

He is upset, and has threatened suicide, or a desire to be killed by law enforcement.

Paulk did not release his identity, but said that he is out on bond for burglary charges.

WALB's Damon Arnold is on the scene, and will have a report as soon as possible.
