Valdosta Preparing to Install LED Roadway Lights

Posted

VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - Valdosta is one of the first 8 cities in Georgia to convert to new LED roadway lighting, offered by Georgia Power.

Over the next four months, the city will be converting more than 3,600 of Valdosta's 6,200 street light fixtures into LED lights.

The best part? It comes at no cost to the city.

Installation begins on August 17. The fixtures take 15 minutes to put in and will not interfere with power services in the city.

Georgia Power hopes to install more than 400,000 of the LED roadway fixtures statewide by 2019.
