VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Valdosta police department is searching for a man that robbed a Raceway convenience store clerk at gunpoint.
Police say the crime happened just after 3 a.m. Thursday at 1406 N. St. Augustine Road. Around that time, the suspect entered the store with a gun, pointing it at the store clerk, Shavkat Shomansurov. He then demanded money from Shomansurov and left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.
No one was injured during the robbery. Police soon responded, but the suspect managed to elude authorities.
The thief was described as a heavy set, 6"2' tall African-American man. Witnesses say he was wearing a red hoodie and dark pants.
