VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) -  A man was arrested in Valdosta after he police found meth, weed, and a stolen loaded gun.

The Valdosta Police Department said that around 8 p.m. on Saturday, an officer saw a car, driven by Christopher Jenkins, make an illegal move.

After pulling Jenkins over, the officer doing the traffic stop said he noticed the smell of weed coming from the car. That officer called in back up, leading to the search of Jenkins' car.

When they searched it, they found weed, meth, and stolen gun from Valdosta that was fully loaded.

Jenkins faces charges related to the possession of weed and meth, possession of a stolen gun, and other traffic violations.

“It is important to note that in this case an officer made a somewhat ordinary stop for a traffic infraction while happening upon a convicted felon with a stolen and fully loaded firearm while in the possession of narcotics- in a residential area. This is another example that a Law Enforcement Officer never knows exactly who he or she is pulling over for a seemingly minor traffic violation,” said Lieutenant Adam Bembry with the Valdosta Police Department.
