VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta Police Department is trying to arrest whoever shot a man this weekend, but they aren't getting much help.

About 11:30 Saturday morning, 911 got a call that someone had been shot in the area of Shanna Circle, but the caller refused to identify themselves.

VPD found a victim in the 1700 block of East Moore Street, who had been shot in the torso.

Officers cared for him until paramedics got there to take him to the hospital. He was later flown out by helicopter to a larger hospital and was listed as stable.

Police said the victim, and the majority of witnesses contacted, have not been cooperative with detectives.

"Citizen cooperation is essential when gathering accurate information during the investigation of violent crimes," said VPD Lieutenant Adam Bembry. "If anyone has knowledge or information regarding this incident, they are urged to contact the police department."

The investigation is active. The victim’s name is being withheld at this time.
