VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta Police Department (VPD) says at about 11:30 a.m. today, a homeowner returned home to find two men carrying several of his items out of the house, including several guns. The victim tried to capture the burglars. VPD says one of the men, Antonio Webb, 18, stayed and surrendered while the other ran off into a wooded area.
VPD officers, detectives, K-9 officers and Crime Lab personnel arrived on scene to begin locating the suspect. According to Capt. Bobbi McGraw, spokesperson for VPD, D’Ante Scruggs, 17, was located in a swampy area between Pebblewood Drive and Lake Drive. He was arrested and some of the stolen property was recovered.
Both Antonio Webb and D'Ante Scruggs were taken to the Lowndes County Jail and detectives are currently determining the charges. VPD spokesperson McGraw says the offenders are being held pending further judicial proceedings.
