Valdosta Police investigate two separate shootings

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Three people have been hospitalized after two shootings in Valdosta.

The Valdosta Police Department says that the shootings happened early Monday morning within minutes of each other.

They say they were called to a parking lot in the 800 block of Old Statenville Road. When they arrived, officers found two men that had been shot while sitting in their cars.

One victim was wounded in his arm and the other victim was shot in the torso.

Both men, a 32 and 37 year old, drove themselves separately to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. VPD says citizens in the area said they didn't see the incident.

Two minutes later and a mile and a half away, VPD officers responded to a home in the 800 block of Cypress Street about another shooting.

The 45-year-old victim told police that an unknown person, believed to possibly be a man, broke into his home. Once the intruder was inside, he shot

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. 

Both cases are open and are actively being investigated. VPD says they will release more information when it becomes available.
