VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A handful of vehicle thefts and break-ins this year have police sending out a reminder to the community of steps that should be taken everytime you get out of your vehicle.

The Valdosta Police Department says the most recent auto theft occurred Saturday in the 900 block of Clifton drive, where a Dodge sedan was taken.

Valdosta experienced rougly 600 vehicle break-ins last year.

VPD says under no circumstances should people leave keys in their cars, even if running into a store for a moment.

Also, they say, lock your vehicles and take with you all personal belongings in the house, especially weapons.
