VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - The Valdosta Police Department has released body cam footage after a woman posted a video to Facebook claiming she was mistreated by officers.

The 8 minute long Facebook video posted by Nicole Benhammou has now received over 100,000 views.

On Sept. 17th, Valdosta police officers were called out to a home on Vallatton Drive for a report of a child custody issues. The resident told police that the grandmother and mother of his child had taken his daughter without permission.

Benhammou, accompanied by the mother of the child were stopped on I-75 near mile marker 25. Police said that's where they were taken into custody.

A week later, Benhammou posted the clip online as she was driving back to Valdosta from Tampa claiming that she was going to find her car that police had taken. She added that she was scared for her life.

Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress said the allegations are completely false and to prove the department's transparency, the chief met with several civil rights leaders to show them all the body cam video and police reports from the incident.

"The people I respect the most are my civil rights people that have taken the time to say, 'Brian, this is what we've seen, is this true? They have not passed judgement on my officers... let me tell you why that is. Because I promised them I would never lie, and I'm not going to. But in this case, what is being reported is just totally ridiculous," said Chief Childress

We reached out to Benhammou for her side of the story and has yet to respond.
