Valdosta Police continue search for suspect who killed VSU student

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Investigators continue to follow leads in the death of a Valdosta State University student.

One community leader is asking the university students and faculty to get more involved.

Valdosta Police say someone shot and killed 19-year-old Zachary Butler last Wednesday in his apartment.

He lived in the Gates Student Housing apartments.

Law enforcement hasn't made any arrests.

Reverend J.D. Martin, is the CEO of Citizens Against Violence. He says students need to alert police of any illegal activity.

Citizens Against Crime holds monthly meetings.

The next one is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. At the Ora Lee West Community Center.
