VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - On January 31, 2014 Valdosta Police responded to a call about a burglary in the 900 block of Lakeland Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle in front of the house, and a person inside the vehicle. When officers approached, they say the person drove off, even though officers ordered him to stop.

According to Capt. Bobbi McGraw with the Valdosta Police Department (VPD), Jarvis Bryant, 22, the driver of the vehicle, drove away, but in the process, hit one officer with his vehicle, almost hit a second officer, and hit a police car that had an officer inside. The officer who was struck by the vehicle and the officer inside the vehicle that was struck was not injured.

Capt. McGraw says Bryant led officers on a pursuit which ended at the intersection of Perimeter Road and Hwy 84, when the car got into a minor wreck. No injuries were reported. Bryant was taken into custody.

Officers then went back to the place of the burglary, where according to a police report, they found Nathaniel Ware, 21. Ware was taken into custody without incident. Evidence of a burglary was collected at the scene and from the vehicle.

Capt. McGraw says at this time, arrest warrants will be pursued on Bryant for multiple counts of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and Burglary. Other charges are pending. An arrest warrant will be pursued on Ware for Burglary with other charges possibly pending.
