VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A man has been arrested after police say he shot his wife while intoxicated.
The Valdosta Police Department responded to a call from the Emergency Room at a local hospital, where a victim had been shot in the leg on Sunday, June 25 at approximately at 5:04 a.m.
The victim claims her husband, Edward Miller, shot her at a private residence on Shanna Circle after a verbal argument. She says he was intoxicated and threatened an act of violence against her and her children.
Multiple officers went to the residence in an attempt to find Miller, who was possibly still armed. Upon arrival, a blood trail was seen leading into the house.
The officers dispatched a K-9 to search for the suspect before entering the home. The offender was found in the back room, where the K-9 had him detained.
After a brief struggle, officers were able to get the offender into custody without any further incident.
Miller is now facing the following charges:
- Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon (FELONY)
- Possession of Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (FELONY)
- Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon (FELONY)
- Terroristic Threats X3(FELONY)
- False Imprisonment X3 (FELONY)
- Cruelty to children in the first degree X2 (FELONY)
- Cruelty to children in the 3rd degree (Misdemeanor)
