Valdosta Police Arrest Man for Assaulting Woman and Stealing Her Car

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Valdosta police said that they arrested a man for assaulting a woman and stealing her car.

The Valdosta Police Department reported that they arrested 18-year-old Eric Thomas on Nov. 8 after he got into an accident driving the victim's car on I-75, two days after he stole it.

They said that on Nov. 6, around 5:20 a.m. they received a called about an armed robbery in the 300 block of Norman Drive. When they arrived the found a woman who told them she had just been robbed at gunpoint. 

The woman told police that she was walking out of a local business when a man, later identified as Thomas, came up to her and demanded her car keys.

When she didn't give them up, he hit her with the gun, forcing her to let go of the keys. Thomas then drove off.

He was arrested Nov. 8, and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

Thomas faces charges for armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm.
