Valdosta Officials Search for Armed and Dangerous Suspect

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Officers in Valdosta are searching for a suspect they believed to be armed and dangerous.

On Saturday around 5 pm, trooper pulled over a vehicle on Old Valdosta Road near the intersection of GA 122. During the stop, the driver John Walton gave a false name to officers to try and conceal his identity. Officers then attempted to arrest the 35 year old, and that's when he fled on foot.  Trooper caught up to Walton in a nearby wooded area, but then Walton was able to flee again. Walton ran to a residence where then took off in another vehicle.

Walton is a convicted felon and is considered to be armed and dangerous. He's facing charges of Felony Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle, Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Felony Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Tools Used in the Commission of a Crime, Misdemeanor Obstruction of Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor Giving False Name and Date of Birth to Law Enforcement and several traffic related Misdemeanors.

Officials are asking residents to be on the look out for Walton. He is 6 feet tall, 200 to 215 pounds, has blues eyes and short brown hair. He goes by his middle name, Wesley, and was last seen driving away in a White Nissan Altima.
